The Indo-American
Chamber of Commerce had their October meeting on the
11th of October at the Westin Galleria
hotel. Mr. Paul Frison, President & CEO of the
Houston Technology Center, was the featured guest
speaker. Dr. Rao introduced the speaker and quoted
Mr. Pradeep Anand, COO of PointCross and a member of
IACCGH, "Paul is a visionary,
pragmatist, and altruist, all rolled into
one".
HTC is focused on
assisting and growing emerging entrepreneurial
businesses emanating from Houston’s four key
technology sectors: aerospace, energy, information
technology (hardware, software and telecommunications),
and life sciences. Through its educational programs and
activities, HTC promotes the advancement of technology
and science, as well. Mr. Paul Frison was elected
President, CEO and Director of HTC in 1999. Dr. John
Mendelsohn, President of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center,
and a member of HTC’s Board stated, "Paul’s
extensive and successful experience with entrepreneurial
ventures in Houston will be great value to HTC and the
client companies we plan to serve."
Mr. Frison urged everyone
to get involved with HTC to make Houston a successful
organization. As of now they have 6000 people on their
database and community mentors, volunteers etc. are
still needed. In 1997 advisors of HTC got together to
capitalize on Houston’s resources and pool it
together. As there was a high concentration of IT
companies Houston was named a "Gulf Tech
City". In 1999 HTC was formed with a lot of help
from the Greater Houston Partnership and other leading
companies, like Enron & Exxon, who loan them
executives. Mr. Frison says "Houston is rich in
leading edge technology and the Sleeping Giant has
awakened"
The evening’s talk was
well received by all attendees and many questions were
asked of the speaker. Mr. Jagdip Ahluwalia, Vice
President of IACCGH, gave the vote of thanks. Please
find below the power point presentation of Mr. Paul
Frison.
