The program will bring federal agencies,
business groups and banks under one roof
to give Indian-Americans information on
how to start businesses and expand
existing ones. Interested business
owners will also get information on
guaranteed federal loans and the process
of getting certified as a small,
minority- or woman-owned business.
Service Corps of Retired Executives,
a nonprofit division of the SBA; the
University of Houston Small
Business Development Center will be
present to help community members
looking at starting a new business or
expanding their business with free
consultancy in understanding the
opportunities Houston offers, writing a
business plan, marketing , etc.
Participating agencies will include the
Houston Minority Business Enterprise
Center, which specializes in loan
packaging and minority certification;
the Houston Minority Business Council,
which helps minority-owned businesses
grow; the Small Business Administration,
which guarantees loans and lending
institutions.
A resource guide will be distributed and
will include information from the
following agencies:

SCORE/UH Small Business Development
Center on how to start a small
business
-
US
Small Business Administration on how
to apply for a SBA guaranteed loan
-
HMBC
and the City of Houston on the
benefits of certification
-
Lending institutions on the
different types of loans they are
offering
-
Lending institutions specialize
in different levels of loans and
we will include representatives
from each of these groups.
The workshop will be on Saturday March
17th with registration starting at 9.30
am with a brief opening session with
presentations.
The opening session will be followed by
-
Face-to face meetings with
representatives of the
Agencies/Lending agencies.

Opportunity to visit booths set up
by the participating agencies to
understand the services they offer.
Lending Institutions being invited will
include:

Accion Texas will help with Micro loans
and seed capital for start ups
