Durga Agrawal
|
Durga D. Agrawal received a BS in Mechanical Engineering
from the University of Delhi, India. Following his
bachelor's degree, he studied Industrial Engineering at the
University of Houston, earning an MS in 1969 and a Ph.D. in
1974. Dr. Agrawal founded Piping Technology & Products, Inc
(PT&P) in 1978, making acquisitions of Sweco Fab in 1986 and
U.S. Bellows in 1997. In 2004, PT&P acquired from the Shaw
Group the following companies: Fronek Company (FCI) Inc.,
Fronek Anchor/Darling Enterprises Inc., Pipe Shields Inc.,
and FCI Pipe Supports Inc. He served as a Director of the
Society of Piping Engineers and Designers from 1986-87.
Since 1975, he has been an Associate Member of the National
Society of Professional Engineers, and the Texas Society of
Professional Engineers. In 1998, he was nominated for the
Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and in the same
year, he received the Cullen College of Engineering
Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award. He has been a
member of University of Houston Advisory Board for
Industrial Engineering since 1998, a member of the
Engineering Leadership Board since 1999. Dr. Agrawal has set
up a scholarship endowment in the UH Industrial Engineering
Department and has also been involved in various fundraising
efforts for Rice University. Durga was selected as the 2001
US Small Business Person of the Year for the State of Texas
by the U.S. Small Business Administration. He is an active
member of ITAC (Industry Trade Advisory Committee) which is
an integral link between industry and the United States
Government, and jointly administered by the Department of
Commerce and the United States Trade Representative (USTR). |
