Karen V. Francis, MSc, MBA
For more than two decades Karen Francis was in the global offices at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She was instrumental in developing and in managing many global partnerships for the Cancer Center – many of those in Latin America and around the world. Of particular importance were the relationships she managed for many years with the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) in Mumbai and the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. She was pivotal in the planning and organizing of Dr. John Mendelsohn’s first visit to India for the Sister institution Signing Ceremonies with both of these prestigious institutions. Her outgoing and very welcoming personality, along with her management skills, brought many faculty and staff from India to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and to other institutions in the Texas Medical Center.
Karen continues to connect and to liaison with all her global colleagues in the medical field. She has now directed her passion to help patients from around the globe who wish to have medical second opinions or those who want to seek treatment and care at top-ranked hospitals in the US and around the world. Her long and continued relationship with these institutions allows for quick and easy access to the world’s best doctors. She handles everything from finding the best-suited physicians at the appropriate hospitals, processing insurance, and financial issues, and confirming appointments. Hotel accommodations and logistics support are also part of her medical concierge service.
