Ashok Garg joined the Board of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston in 2010 as Treasurer. and served as President in 2015. He is at the forefront of community service and an advocate for Literacy. He is a senior Fellow member of the American Leadership Forum.
Ashok Garg has served as President of Rotary’s Memorial Spring Branch Club in 2008-2009 where he launched a fundraising program which has so far raised over $300,000 towards the club’s Literacy and Scholarship program. He also served on the Board of Literacy Advance of Houston, an organization that taught the English language to adults free of charge.
In 2006, he partnered with several community leaders to initiate Club 24 which provides mentoring to the next generation of entrepreneurs and supports Club 24 members in their Philanthropic contributions to our community. He currently serves this organization as a founding member. He supports BAPS and also serves on the Board of India House and LightHouse for the Blind.
Ashok Garg was born and raised in Delhi, India. He moved to Houston in 1967 and in 1969 joined Houston Lighting and Power Company. In 1984, he started his own business, Allied Exports, Inc. which exports recyclable waste materials. The company proved to be very successful and as well as environmentally friendly. Ashok Garg holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s in Industrial Engineering. He and his wife, Prabha are blessed with two sons and a granddaughter.
